Health & Safety
Here at Choosy Beads, your health, safety and welfare are very important to us. As such we do our up most to ensure all of our products are sourced from ethical and legitimate suppliers.
None of our products are intended for the use in children's jewellery or to be used by children of 12 years old or younger.
Choking Hazard: Keep all small parts out of the reach and sight of children, animals and vulnerable adults.
Lead content:
Swarvoski Crystal products contain lead, this will be clearly marked on the product packaging and within the product description. It is estimated that Swarvoski crystal beads contain around 32% lead or lead oxide in them. It is the lead which give the crystal beads their sparkle.
Swarvoski bound the lead into the structure of the crystal and assure its customers that no significant risk is posed of excessive lead exposure to human health via surface contact. But, they do state that it is not recommended that crystals are placed in the mouth.
Apart from Swarvoski crystal products, Choosy Beads do our up most to ensure all our products are free of, or contain less than the current USA safe limits for jewellery designed to be worn by adults. At present, other than for toys, there is no specific UK or European legislation with regards to “safe” levels of lead content or release.
Nickel:
Where products are “Nickel Free”, this will be clearly marked on the product packaging and within the product description. Choosy Beads do our up most to ensure that our products comply with the current European Nickel Directive.
If you re-sell jewellery, please bear in mind some people have nickel allergies. Clear descriptions are always best on your jewellery.
Beads:
Some beads, such as glass pearls for example, have been dipped in paint or chemically dyed. In normal jewellery use these are safe, however, never place beads in your mouth, suck or chew on them.
Keep away from children and pets.
Metal Findings, wire and stringing wires:
Can have sharp edges, especially following cutting or snipping. Always handle and store safely and wear eye protection when using cutters.
Keep away from children and pets.
